Of all the great lakes, Lake Michigan is generally regarded as the best lake for swimming. And of all the beachfront surrounding Lake Michigan, we think our little shoreline just happens to be the best for swimmers too. Luxurious sugar sand beaches and clean, fresh waters make it ideal for a day of relaxing in the sun and splashing in the waves. There are several beaches in the area to choose from.
Golden Township Park
This warm water channel is actually what makes this beach perfect for families—young kids love the channel while older kids and adults are attracted to the Big Lake. Walkers will also have easy access to Little Sable Point Lighthouse on this beach.
Located off Silver Lake Road 1/4 mile north of the Lighthouse.
Little Sable Point Lighthouse Beach
At this beach, there is a large parking area, and restroom facilities are nearby. Note: The walk out to the water from the parking lot involves some dune crossing and climbing.
Located 1/2 mile south of Golden Township Park.
The park features picnic tables and restrooms. To get down to the beach, take the multi-tiered wooden steps through the forest canopy. A great secluded area for spending time at the lake.
Located along the shore of Lake Michigan between Silver Lake and Pentwater off B-15.
Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV Area Beach
As you cross the beautiful rolling hills of the sand dunes, you’ll soon see the stunning vista of Lake Michigan spread before you. Head down to the beach at your leisure and spend as much time as you can allow taking in this beautiful area. You’ll likely see a long line of ORVs there, which may remind you a bit of Daytona Beach (though there is no driving allowed directly on the beach).
Access to this beach is from the ORV dune entrance area off 24th Ave. at Silver Lake.
